After careful preparation in the early stage and the deliberation and approval of the Seventh Meeting of the Second Council of CACAC on June 12, 2019, the Expert Committee of CACAC was formally established.

The Expert Committee is the advisory body and think tank of CACAC. It is the expression form of CACAC’s expert database and the working organization of experts. The purpose of its establishment is to better play the role of think tanks, to promote development and exchanges between China and ASEAN as well as countries along the Belt and Road in agriculture, economy, trade, technology, etc., and to provide professional and scientific support for international agricultural cooperation, development of CACAC and its members. 

The Expert Committee consists of experts, entrepreneurs, researchers, and technical backbones in the fields of agriculture, economy, trade, and technology in China, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, etc., all of whom entering CACAC serving as members of the Expert Committee and provide guidance and support for industry and enterprise development and construction of CACAC. Abiding by agreements, respecting the opinions of some experts, CACAC will not disclose some experts’ information.

Also according to the quality and role of the Expert Committee, the Secretariat of CACAC researched and drafted the Responsibilities and Management Methods of the Expert Committee of CACAC (Exposure draft), and proposed the establishment, composition and responsibilities of the Expert Committee as well as the role, rights and obligations, the way of working, etc. of its members, which is also reviewed and approved by the Seventh Meeting of the Second Council of CACAC.

On the same day, the Expert Committee also held the first plenary meeting, which approved the candidates for the secretary-general of the Committee, the list of some members of the Committee (in no particular order), and the 2019 work plan of the Committee (Exposure draft).

The establishment of the Expert Committee has enabled CACAC obtain a think tank and professional support. Next step, the Expert Committee will actively expand the professional think tank, increase research service capabilities, enhance industry influence, and promote international agricultural cooperation and the development of enterprises and CACAC more scientifically and accurately.
