Introduction of CACAC

China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce, abbreviated as CACAC, was established with the permission of the State Council of China, the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, and the support from the ASEAN Secretariat on December 26, 2007. It’s an organization concerning foreign affairs under the charge of All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, the first international chamber of commerce with “China-ASEAN” in the title in China, and the only international organization in the field of China's agriculture and agricultural materials with foreign investment and trade cooperation.

1. Positioning:

Geographical range: Putting emphasis on China, ASEAN countries and countries along the Belt and Road, CACAC also serves other countries in the world, aiming at actively promoting bilateral or multilateral exchanges and cooperation in agricultural economy, trade, technology and culture, as well as providing opportunities for common development, cooperation and exchanges among governments, enterprises, social organizations, experts and scholars.

Business area: According to the national conditions of China, ASEAN countries and countries along the Belt and Road, CACAC positively promotes cooperation of production, business, trade and investment in areas of agricultural materials such as fertilizers and pesticides, and continuously expands trade, services, investment and financing, and cultural exchanges in related fields of agriculture and agricultural products, promoting the development of agricultural modernization and the transformation and upgrading of industries and enterprises.

Operation mechanism: In accordance with the rules of international chamber of commerce, CACAC takes “Consultations, Sharing and Development” as its principal and mechanism, making great efforts to pool resources of member countries and arouse the enthusiasm of all participants, thus building an international exchange platform of win-win cooperation.

CACAC includes five internal departments including Integrated Department, Membership Department, Information Technology Department, International Cooperation Department and Exhibition&Training Department, as well as four branches including Nanning Representative Office, International Trade Commission, Subcommittee of International Water Soluble Fertilizer and Expert Committee.

4. Scope of business

A. To promote the economic, trade, technological, capacity, cultural and investment development, exchange and cooperation among China, ASEAN and other countries and regions in the field of agriculture and agricultural materials.

B. To participate in the activities of international trade organizations and carry out exchanges and cooperation with relevant government departments, trade organizations and business associations in China, ASEAN and other countries and regions.

C. To building an exchange platform among member countries, government departments and other organizations.

D. To provide industry information services on laws, regulations, policies and news information on agriculture, agricultural materials, economy and trade, technology, capacity, culture and investment in China, ASEAN and other countries and regions.

E. To organize various activities such as conferences, exhibitions, information exchanges, policy consultations, legal services, economic evaluation, educational training, and e-commerce.

F. To study major issues arising from industry development and membership activities, and timely feedback industry demands and recommendations to relevant government departments.

G. To promote the development of industry norms, carry out standardization work, accelerate product and service quality improvement, participate in the coordination of trade disputes, coordinate the relationship among members and other organizations, and protect the overall interests of all members and the industry.

H. To promote industry integrity and self-discipline, strengthen the construction of industry self-discipline, credit and professional ethics, advocate members to practise in accordance with law and integrity, and push members to fulfill their social responsibilities.

5. Membership

CACAC is voluntarily formed by agricultural, economic and trade enterprises, scientific research, technology, and service institutions, social organizations, experts and scholars in China, ASEAN and other countries and regions. The main members are large and medium-sized enterprises, scientific research institutions, business associations, experts and scholars with great influence and strong economic strength in China, ASEAN and other countries.

6. Major events

CACAC actively undertakes international cooperation projects, and has successively organized such activities as Lancang-Mekong Agricultural Technology Training Courses, China-ASEAN Agricultural Industry Summit, Exchange Meetings, Economic and Trade Fairs, etc. CACAC has built a Lancang-Mekong integrated information platform for agricultural economy, trade and technology, and upgraded the China-ASEAN agricultural website, deepening cooperation and exchanges on agriculture, agricultural materials, economy and trade, technology, projects, investment, enterprises, and business associations among China, ASEAN and other countries in multiple ways, including online and offline. CACAC has also signed a memorandum of cooperation with Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar and many other cooperative organizations.

7. Future development

Adhering to the cooperation concept of mutual benefit, openness and inclusiveness, CACAC will give full play to its role of an international organization, actively serving governments, industries and members, striving to help China, ASEAN and other countries to deepen interconnection, trade, investment and capacity cooperation in the fields of agriculture and agricultural materials, stepping up efforts to promote regional agricultural modernization, economic and trade integration and the new development paradigm featuring dual circulation, in which domestic and overseas markets reinforce each other, building a larger stage to provide more opportunities for the development of enterprises and members, and making greater contribution to build a community with a shared future of China-ASEAN and the Belt and Road cooperation.
