From March 18 to 24, 2024, it is the seventh Lancang-Mekong Week and the eighth anniversary of the launch of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. As a new sub-regional cooperation mechanism established under the principle of wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits between China and Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation has developed rapidly since its launch in March 2016, with fruitful results. It has vigorously promoted the economic and social development of the six countries and brought tangible benefits to the people of all countries.

Agriculture is one of the five priority areas of the Lancang Mekong Cooperation. After eight years of development, Lancang-Mekong cooperation in agriculture and agricultural materials has yielded fruitful results with diversified cooperation areas and strengthened cooperation foundation. Cooperation and exchanges in agriculture and agricultural materials are growing vigorously and deepening. From 2016 to 2022, the trade volume of agricultural products between China and Mekong countries increased from 15.2 billion US dollars to 31.8 billion US dollars, an increase of about 109%, with an average annual growth rate of about 13%; The trade volume of agricultural products imported by China from Mekong countries has increased from 7.4 billion US dollars to 21.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 186%, with an average annual growth rate of 19%.

China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce (abbreviated as CACAC) is an international organization serving for the agricultural, economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between China and ASEAN, which is established with the permission of the State Council of China, the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, and headed by All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC). It has also been a practitioner of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Fund Project in recent years. On the basis of the continuous and smooth implementation of the Lancang Mekong Cooperation project,, CACAC specially launched the serial activities of “Enjoying Lancang-Mekong Friendship and Drawing a Harvest Scene Together” to celebrate the Lancang-Mekong Week 2024, publicizing the achievements of Lancang-Mekong cooperation in the field of agriculture and agricultural materials, reflecting the participation and achievements of ACFSMC and CACAC in Lancang-Mekong cooperation projects, showcasing the good effect and great potential of Lancang-Mekong cooperation, and further promoting the in-depth development and exchanges of agriculture and agricultural materials in the Lancang-Mekong region.

The serial activities of “Enjoying Lancang-Mekong Friendship and Drawing a Harvest Scene Together” includes seven activities which are setting up a column on the Lancang-Mekong Comprehensive Information Platform for Agriculture, Economy and Trade, Technology, the official website of CACAC and the official WeChat account of CACAC, writing an informative article and two feature articles, making short videos, holding a photography contest “ Lancang-Mekong in My Eyes ”and an award-winning quizze and message-leaving competition, editing and printing the Lancang-Mekong Week issue of China-ASEAN Business and inviting media to increase publicity of this activity.

Among the serial activities, the ongoing photography contest " Lancang-Mekong in My Eyes" aims to collect the photography works from enterprises or individuals that showcase their intuitive experiences and concrete actions of participating in or witnessing the development of Lancang-Mekong cooperation and promoting cooperation in agriculture, agricultural materials, economy and trade，thus recording the touching moments, unforgettable stories and achievements of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation in agriculture, agricultural materials, economy and trade. Currently, the collection of photography works is still ongoing. Enterprises and individuals are welcome to participate in the contest and submit your photography works (e-mail：cacac2015@163.com ).

Also, CACAC sorted out the important meetings, events and outcome documents related to Lancang-Mekong Cooperation in 2023, and formed an informative article " 2023 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Events" to publicize the development and achievements of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and attract people from all walks of life to have a deeper understanding of and actively participate in promoting Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

The feature articles "Thoughts and Suggestions on Building a High-quality Lancang-Mekong Agriculture Cooperation Pattern" and "Research on the Potential of Agricultural Trade between China and Mekong Countries" analyzed and summarized the latest progress and achievements of agricultural cooperation between the five Mekong countries and China in the past three years, and put forward relevant suggestions on building a high-quality Lancang-Mekong agriculture cooperation pattern. Also the current situation and problems of agricultural trade between China and Mekong countries were summarized, the competitiveness and complementarity of bilateral agricultural trade were analyzed and the potential of agricultural trade between China and Mekong countries from the perspectives of country and variety were proposed in the articles.

Besides, on the basis of  a number of Lancang-Mekong project activities implemented by CACAC in 2023 ，CACAC created two short videos respectively named “2023 and 2024 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Summit for Agriculture, Agricultural Materials, Economy and Trade” and “Brief Introduction of Chinese Agriculture and Agricultural Materials of Lancang-Mekong Agriculture Series” to publicize the work and achievements of ACFSMC and CACAC in participating in Lancang-Mekong agricultural cooperation and in promoting regional agricultural, economic and trade exchanges. CACAC invites enterprises and the public to continue to enthusiastically support and participate in the 2024 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation project activities.

CACAC also carried out the award-winning quizze and message-leaving competition for five consecutive days during the Lancang-Mekong Week to publicize the knowledge of Lancang-Mekong cooperation, attract the public to actively participate in and promote the awareness of Lancang-Mekong cooperation. 

In 2024, CACAC will continue to hold the 2024 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Summit for Agriculture, Agricultural Materials, Economy and Trade to promote resource connectivity, market matching and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. At the same time, CACAC will upgrade the building of the Lancang-Mekong Comprehensive Information Platform for Agriculture, Economy and Trade, Technology to display information on the trade, supply and demand of agriculture and agricultural materials in multiple ways, continue to produce and publish short videos of the Lancang-Mekong Agriculture Series, share the agricultural and enterprise features through the original works of CACAC and the promotion of materials provided by enterprises, thus enhancing the interaction among governments, industries and enterprises of Lancang-Mekong countries.

We sincerely invite all parties to cooperate with and join us to further exchange information resources, share development achievements, and jointly promote the cooperation, development and exchanges among Lancang-Mekong countries, ASEAN countries and countries along the Belt and Road.
