On April 27, 2026, the China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce (CACAC) successfully held the “Russian Peat Project Trade Cooperation and Investment Development Promotion and Exchange Event” in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. The event was strongly supported by the Trade Representation of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China. More than 50 representatives from Chinese and Russian government departments, enterprises, and members of CACAC actively participated both online and offline, engaging in in-depth discussions on resource development, trade cooperation, and investment opportunities related to the Russian peat project.
The event was chaired by Fan Huiqun, Executive Vice President of the CACAC. Aleksei Naryshkin, Advisor to the Trade Representation of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China, introduced relevant information from the Russian side. Gubanov Georgiy Nikolaevich, Deputy of the Arkhangelsk Region Legislative Assembly, Party Leader, and Member of the Committee on Budget, Economic, Financial and Tax Policy, presented the development prospects of the peat industry and cooperation opportunities with China, and gave a special presentation on the project of the Arkhangelsk Peat Research and Production Company Complex. Timofeeva Daria Maksimovna, Director of the Investment Directorate of the Industrial and Economic Development of the Arkhangelsk Region, provided a systematic overview of the region and its investment attractiveness.

During lively exchanges both on-site and online, Chinese enterprise representatives raised active questions regarding peat extraction techniques, pricing levels, cooperation models, packaging methods, logistics costs, and export qualifications, to which the Russian representatives responded one by one. Both sides agreed that peat, as a green agricultural input, holds broad application prospects in soil improvement, organic substrates, and fertilizers, and that there is significant potential for China-Russia cooperation in this field.
This promotional and exchange event provided an efficient platform for Chinese enterprises to learn about the Russian peat market and promote practical cooperation. It also represents an important initiative by CACAC to serve its members and expand international collaboration. The two sides will further follow up on specific cooperation intentions, sample trials, and other matters.
