From March 23 to 29, 2026, the ninth “Lancang-Mekong Week” took place as scheduled. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) and is a pivotal year as the LMC mechanism transitions to its “Version 2.0.” To celebrate this significant milestone, the China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce (CACAC), under the guidance of the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC), successfully organized a series of activities to celebrate “Lancang-Mekong Week 2026” under the theme A Decade of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation: Walking Together with One Heart. These activities comprehensively showcased the positive achievements of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation in the agricultural and agricultural materials sectors and further consolidated consensus on regional cooperation.

A five-day “New Insights into Lancang-Mekong Cooperation” online quiz competition was held, featuring questions on the history, achievements, and priority areas of the LMC mechanism, popularizing knowledge about Lancang-Mekong cooperation and attracting broad public participation, thereby enhancing interactivity.

CACAC compiled and released the 2025 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Chronicle, which reviews important meetings, documents, and major events of the LMC mechanism in 2025, further promoting awareness and effectiveness of Lancang-Mekong cooperation.

A feature article titled From 1.0 to 2.0: New Opportunities and Paths for Lancang-Mekong Agricultural and Agricultural Materials Cooperation was written, summarizing the ten-year cooperation journey and analyzing opportunities and challenges in the new development phase, providing valuable insights for advancing the upgrading of Lancang-Mekong cooperation in the agricultural and agricultural materials sectors.

A themed short video and accompanying text were produced, using footage from the 2025 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Forum on Agriculture, Agricultural Materials, Economy and Trade to vividly present the proactive efforts of ACFSMC and CACAC in promoting Lancang-Mekong cooperation in the agricultural and agricultural materials sectors. The video also briefly introduced key Lancang-Mekong cooperation activities scheduled for 2026, thereby supporting regional cooperation and exchange.

A special feature for “Celebrating the 2026 Lancang-Mekong Week” was launched simultaneously on online platforms (including the Lancang-Mekong Comprehensive Information Platform for Agriculture, Economy and Trade, Technology, the official website of CACAC, and WeChat Public Account of CACAC), presenting highlights of the series of activities.

Subsequently, CACAC will also broadcast its innovatively produced short video Lancang-Mekong Agriculture Series on the Guangxi TV International. These videos will introduce topics such as the development and application of plant protection drone technology, green crop-livestock integration system, and the development of rural complexes, while promoting agricultural and agricultural materials development and investment environments in China, Mekong countries, and other ASEAN nations, thereby strengthening exchanges and cooperation through diverse formats.

Trade in agricultural materials such as fertilizers and pesticides between China and the Mekong River countries forms a key foundation of bilateral agricultural cooperation. Since 2020, China’s imports of potash fertilizers from Laos have surged significantly, with their share of total imports increasing year by year. China exports large quantities of fertilizers and pesticides to Mekong countries annually, effectively supporting local agricultural production and accounting for a substantial portion of the country’s total exports. Additionally, some Chinese enterprises have invested in building factories in Mekong countries or partnered with local distributors to provide agrochemical services, working together to actively contribute to the green and sustainable development of agriculture in the Lancang-Mekong region.

As an international organization dedicated to facilitating economic and trade cooperation and exchanges in the agricultural and agricultural materials sectors between China, ASEAN, and countries along the Belt and Road, CACAC has focused in recent years on trade and investment cooperation in agricultural materials, actively organizing economic and trade promotion activities. It has consistently hosted the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Forum on Agriculture, Agricultural materials, Economy and Trade , undertaken and implemented numerous Lancang-Mekong cooperation projects, and established the Lancang-Mekong Comprehensive Information Platform for Agriculture, Economy and Trade, Technology (online website). This platform shares and showcases information across multiple dimensions—including enterprises, products, supply and demand, and technology—to support enterprises in expanding overseas and attracting foreign investment. CACAC will continue to actively serve as a bridge, deepening practical cooperation with Lancang-Mekong and ASEAN countries in agriculture, agricultural materials, trade, and technology, and helping to build a new framework for Lancang-Mekong cooperation that is closer, more innovative, and more inclusive.

This “blueberry flower” of Lancang-Mekong cooperation, nurtured by all parties, is sure to bloom with even greater brilliance.
