The ADT in Baramati and the University of Oxford are launching an online course using AI to empower farmers for sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.

The Agriculture Development Trust (ADT) in Baramati is set to introduce an online course that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to assist farmers and combat climate change, as announced by Sharad Pawar, the founder of the Indian Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and a co-founder of ADT.

The course, titled 'Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture Technology and Climate Change,' is slated for launch next year and has been developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford.

This course, designed to empower farmers, encompasses a wide range of applications. It will aid in farm management and yield prediction, effective water management, and accurate drought forecasts in India.

Additionally, it will offer insights into resource allocation on farms, soil management, optimal crop rotation strategies, as well as pest and disease control.

Moreover, it will emphasize sustainable agriculture practices, all contributing to a more efficient and environmentally friendly Indian agricultural sector.

Ajit Jaokar, the course director responsible for Artificial Intelligence: Cloud and Edge Implementation at the University of Oxford, highlighted the commitment to ensuring that AI technology is effectively employed at the grassroots level for the benefit of farmers.

This initiative aims to merge cutting-edge technology with agricultural practices, fostering sustainable and adaptive approaches for a rapidly changing climate.
