On 3rd December 2021, the Lancang-Mekong Comprehensive Information Platform for Agriculture, Economy and Trade, Technology was launched and put online. A launch ceremony was held in Beijing. It is a service platform built by China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce that aims to collect information, provide channels for publicity and promotion, bridge supply and demand, and tighten contacts under the support of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Project Funds. 

Leaders including Wang Wei, Party member and Deputy Director of the Council of All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC); Li Dianping, Executive Member of the Council and Director-general of Department of Science and Technology, Education, Association and Societies of ACFSMC; Long Wen, Director-general of Bureau for Agricultural Means of Production & Cotton and Jute of ACFSMC, President of China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce; Park Phananra, Commercial Counselor of Royal Embassy of Cambodia in China; Ana Gracia Maria Abejuela, Agricultural Counselor of the Philippines Embassy in China attended the launching ceremony. Leaders from the Ministry of Commerce of China, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, ACFSMC, and other competent departments jointly launched the platform.

Since 2020, CACAC has actively prepared to develop and construct the Lancang-Mekong Comprehensive Information Platform for Agriculture, Economy and Trade, Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Lancang-Mekong platform). It has actively responded to changes in communication methods and information exchanges under the Covid-19 pandemic and accelerated the development of information technology penetration and application in Lancang-Mekong cooperation and has done its best to complete a series of tasks such as platform construction demand research, plan design, content R&D, information collection, publicity, and promotion. CACAC will also strive to expand and increase communication, trade, and investment cooperation opportunities among Lancang-Mekong countries, organizations, and enterprises. The launch of the Lancang-Mekong platform marks that the Lancang-Mekong cooperation and China-ASEAN agricultural informatization construction have added a novel platform for information exchange and dissemination among countries.

As the builder of the Lancang-Mekong platform, CACAC has been actively playing the role of a bridge and link between industries and enterprises of China and the Mekong and ASEAN countries, actively organized training exchanges, economic and trade promotion, cooperation and matchmaking events, etc, playing a critical role in promoting pragmatic cooperation in agriculture, agricultural materials, economy and trade, technology, projects, and investment of Lancang-Mekong and ASEAN countries with fruitful results.

According to the introduction of CACAC, the Lancang-Mekong Platform has established 6 significant sections, including policies, information, enterprise supply and demand, data, reports, and columnists. At present, more than 100 domestic and foreign companies have settled on the platform which has already nearly 100,000 data items on it covering of information of agricultural materials, agricultural products, planting, enterprises, macro-level economics, trade, and other related fields of the 6 Lancang-Mekong countries and other ASEAN countries. The platform also collected hundreds of functional materials, including analysis of agricultural, economic and trade investment environment, policy and market research, production and trade trends, and hotspots and difficulties. Also, it gathers experts and scholars to collide with sparks of thought and publish research outcomes. It disseminates industry knowledge, promotes technology, and delivers the latest industry situation and trends. Companies, institutions, and individuals can all register as platform users. The users can enjoy platform information for free, showcase corporate style, look for opportunities for cooperation, and provide references for corporate decision-making.

The Lancang-Mekong Platform is open to all parties. All domestic and foreign departments, institutions, enterprises, associations and chambers of commerce, cooperatives, experts, scholars, and individuals are welcome to join in. Let us build the Lancang-Mekong platform together, share development results, and promote cooperation, development, and exchanges of Lancang-Mekong and ASEAN countries as well as countries along the Belt and Road.
